No known records exist for an 1880 replica marked number four.
It only is presumed to have existed due to the numerical sequence and while there are a few likely original owners of this replica, John Sherman certainly received one and there is a possibility his was the one marked number four. Hoar, Evarts and Tucker are other possibilities
John Sherman, Secretary of the treasury in 1880 is known to have received one of the 1880 fac-similes from two sources. The first is Hayes writing him in 1882 and asking to borrow the key to Sherman's "declaration desk" to unlock his desk and he then returned the key to Sherman. The other is an 1904 article in the Richland Shield and Banner stating Sherman's daughter donated it to the Memorial Museum in Mansfield Ohio after his death in October of 1900. When contacted in 2015, the museum stated they had no record or recollection of Sherman's copy.
